Some projects are born from an idea. And some projects are born from a landscape. Cervezas Far West belongs to the second group. Because when you live in Almería, when you walk through its badlands, when you watch the sun set over the Tabernas Desert, something stays with you. That something was the seed of this story.
It was the year 2009. In Níjar, a small town in Almería, someone decided it was time to do things differently. The idea was simple yet ambitious: to brew craft beer in a region that, until then, had no established players in this sector. And not just any beer, but a beer that tasted of Almería. But dreams aren’t built in a day. It took time, patience and a lot of hard work.
Two years later, in 2011, the time had come to let go of the reins. Cervezas Far West hit the market and became the first craft beer produced entirely in the province of Almería. A milestone. A statement of intent. “Pioneers,” said some. “Crazy,” said others. But there they were, with their bottles, their label, and their name evoking those Westerns filmed in the deserts of their homeland.
Almería is a land of cinema. Some of the most iconic films of the Western genre were shot in its deserts. Hollywood directors crossed the ocean to film in Europe’s only desert. Far West pays tribute to that heritage, to those landscapes that seem to be from another era. Every bottle of Far West tells a story. The story of a land that is pure cinema.
Today, almost ten years after that launch, Far West has grown. We’ve introduced special editions, new styles and new recipes. But the essence remains the same: craft beer, 100% natural, lovingly brewed in small batches. And we’re still in Almería. In the Pagolindo Industrial Estate in Alboloduy. Just a few kilometres from the desert that saw us come into being.
We don’t know what the future holds. But one thing is certain: we’ll keep brewing beer just as we’ve always done. With natural ingredients. Using traditional methods. With the flavour of our land. Because Far West isn’t just a beer. It’s the story of a place, of people, and of a dream that came true.
